Hi,
I bought this book about 2-3 years ago, but id say it has been out for atleast 5yrs minimum.
It is about a interior decorator that is partially pyschic and can feel emotion in walls. she marries a private eye (drew? harverour(not sure on the spelling on that one))when her inlaws put her in a mental institution after her husband Preston is killed. the move to some desert in america. she lives in an appartment complexe with her super she calls pixie ears who has the same problem she does. she escapes with a friend who is being chased by her husband who was supposed to be dead in an avalanche.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. I have a feeling a friend may have borrowed this book while i was pregnant and for the life of me i couldnt remember who did. Thank you. I think the title has dangerous in it but i cant be 100% on that. Thank you again for looking and if you can help.

Try Light in Shadow by Jayne Ann Krentz. It has many of the plot elements you mentioned. There is also a sequel.

I agree with the Krentz suggestion.
