I thought it was a Point Horror book, but I didn't find it in any of those. It's fiction. I remember this boy who really liked this girl in his school. He described her with soft red hair, petite nose, and emphasized that he liked her chin. At some point he visits her house and he has tea with her and maybe some other people. She started to become too sick to go to school. I think he would go to visit her. She eventually passed away. I can't remember the rest as that was merely the beginning or at least first half.

It was just the average sized, paper back YA book.

I think I may have read this book. It was set in England during the WWII Blitz (hence the bombings). After she died he still saw her ghost. Her ghost kept telling him she was cold and needed his heat, which he gave to her, possibly by kissing or hugging her. But this was draining all of his energy, so eventually her parents told him he had to let her go. I seem to recall a scene where he was being bullied by some boys on his way to visit the ghost and was so worried that she would fade away without him that he bit the other kids until they let him go, and I think there may have been another scene where a bomb was dropped on a cemetery nearby. I don't remember the name, but I would have read it in the late 80's or very early 90's.

YES! That is exactly it! If only I could remember the name. I tried looking up authors I would have read from, but must have not been a well known author. Or I'm just looking in the wrong places.

This sounds a lot like a movie I saw a couple of years ago, I'll have to see if I can recall that title...probably not the same but you never know!

I'm pretty certain this is The Promise by Robert Westall. I can't find a detailed review but the girl's name is Valerie and the boy is Bob.

It's listed on Amazon.co.uk here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Promise-Piper-Robert-Westall/dp/0330317415/ref=sr_1_1?ie...
