Adams & Co in Durban is a lovely bookshop, especially the one in Musgrave Centre. It was combined with the Professional Kitchen and had a coffee shop and was a great place to meet friends and browse. Unfortunately, due to the centre having an upgrade, Adams has moved to a smaller shop and there is no coffee shop - a great loss. Peter Adams is wonderfully supportive of local authors.

Protea books in Pretoria is great - lots of local authors. 2nd hand books too + Africana + great theology and philosophy sections

Try Collectors treasury, commissioner St Jhb There are probably a million books on 5 floors and a basement, stuffed with dusty books and more boks, Boxes overflow down the front stairs and that end of Commissioner street is not smart. But I never feel unsafe when visiting. thre Klass brothers work hard and are very knowledgeable. Dealing is mainly on the internet. But you need to close your eyes to the
dust and grime and no space to walk between piled up columns of books and the fact that one of these could just tip over. You can usually find whatever you want in the out of print line.
