The article quotes one of my intellectual heroes, whom I've mentioned in other threads, Maryanne Wolf, noting that ereaders and reading on-line could help encourage the development brain functions to be less adept at deep-dive reading and thinking.

Children encourage that as well.

I'm not sure I understand the value in Wolf's contrast between Proust's ideal of literary practice and real contemporary literacy events (or rather, imagined events in the near future). I'd prefer numbers over conjecture (but then, I always do).
