We had a "high wind event" here this week. Not much compared to what other places experience, but I was without electricity for three days and had to move in with my Mom temporarily. Of all the things I missed, I missed my Internet the most!
We did have a few notable events from the wind. The Super8 Motel lost its roof, which then blew into the Omelet Shoppe and collapsed it (no injuries). A fairly wealthy neighborhood lost all of its grand old trees and still doesn't have electricity(also no injuries). However, in a town about a hundred miles away a women was killed. She was at local Christian school gymnasium for her brother's funeral when the roof blew off and the walls collapsed. I feel so sorry for that family. It didn't look like the building had any structural integrity. On the news you could see the cinder blocks scattered around, and there clearly wasn't any mortar on them, so they must have just been stacked.
