What are you reading?

Well seeing as I have started this group I would like to open with What is everyone reading right now?

I myself am reading Charmed and Dangerous by Candace Havens. It's a tale about a witch that helps protect people from the bad guys of the world with her many charms and spells. So far I find it entertaining and funny.

Hey Kat thanks for the invite. I am Reading Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs right now. This is the 4th boook in the Mercy Thompson Series. Mercy is a Shapeshifter into a Coyote who was raised by Werewolves, she is a down to earth girl who owns her own garage and works on vehicles. She is involved with a werewolf and has friends that are werewolf, Fae & Vampire. Don't wanna give to much away but I am enjoying it emensly.

I need to get Bone Crossed! How exciting...! Is it a straight-to-paperback book? I hope so...!

I'm reading the fourth Weather Warden book right now. :)

No it is in hardcover as far as I am aware it isn't in paperback. But I am only a couple of chapters into it and I am bummed that I am at work today and can't read it straight through...

I've read the first 2 books in the Mercy Thompson series and loved them. I thought they were Fantastic and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I'm a little disappointed that the 4th book is in hardcover because I prefer to read paperbacks. I wish they wouldn't start putting series into hard covers a few books in because that makes the wait twice as long....:(

I don't mind hard covers, I try to keep my series in one or the other whichever I start the series with, but I know how it is to wait to get a book in a series it is a bummer. But now I have so many different series and am trying to catch up on my TBR list.. (Which I don't have tagged that way but I know which ones.. LOL ) that I get them as soon as I can and take them in hard cover or paperback.

I just finished Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand. I really enjoy this series and can't wait for the next one to come out.

I haven't read any of the Kitty series but everyone keeps telling me I should start. I have so many other series that i'm try to get through right now, maybe I will get to try them out some time in the near future!

I haven't read them either but I have also been wanting to read them but am in the same boat as you Kat.

I really like the spin Carrie Vaughn puts on werewolves with Kitty. Besides, I just kind of like the idea of a werewolf named Kitty (a joke that comes up at least once in every book).

I also like Keri Arthur's take on werewolves in the Riley Jensen series, starting with Full Moon Rising.

The Riley Jensen series is one of the series that I am currently reading and so far I love it. I'm also trying to get through Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series. There just isn't enough time in the day to do all the reading I would like to do....lol!

I just finished the Mediator series and loved those! :) Also just finished the most current vampire academy book....steamy cliff hanger! :) gotta love YA books!I wish we had this many books to choose from when I was younger!

Tell me about it there was never this many good books to read when I was a kid either! I'm totally addicted to YA books right now it's like i'm trying to catch up on everything thats out there right now.

I've read the first book in the vampire academy series and loved it, I can't wait to read the next 2. They are on my 999 list!

Sounds like I am going to have to put some more books on my TBR list LOL :-) You are righ tthere is never enough time in a day to get all the ones read that I want to read as well. I already have a ton of boooks on my Wish List.. But as always it keeps growing.. LOL

I'd be dangerous if I was rich I would probably spend every minute in the book store and have books coming out of my ears, not that that isn't happening already.....lol!

I always say if money was no object I would just work at a book store :P I just finished Dreams Made Flesh by Anne Bishop. It was good, after reading the Black Jewels trilogy I wanted more and it was nice to get some closure with Janelle and Deamon.

I love the Candace Havens series, they're so light and fun! Patricia Briggs rocks my world. I read Cry Wolf today. Now I'm waiting for my next Amazon order to have her earlier works sent out!

Right now I'm starting on The Mediator series and after those are done I'm moving on to the series Christina picked for our next book club meeting (psst... Tae, there are 4 out so far and I have them all...)

I loved the Black Jewels trilogy!! It is probably one of the best fantasy series i have ever read. I haven't read Dreams made flesh yet but I do have it on my TBR pile, Now I guess there are 2 new ones in series Tangled Webs and The Shadow Queen, can't wait to read those!

I have heard the Meg Cabot's Mediator series is very good I may just have to bite the bullet and pick up the series and give it a go!

Thanks for inviting me Kat. I'm not sure how often I will post here, I have so many books I need to read and never enough time as I would like to get to all these books!

I am currently reading House of Cards by C.E. Murphy. It's the second in the Negotiator trilogy and I actually think the second book is better than the first, which is usually a rarity in either books or movies.

The main character, Margrit, got pulled into the paranormal community in the first book and now despite the fact that Alban, her gargoyle love interest, has made the decision to avoid her for her own safety, she has become even further pulled in to the community by a dragon, vampire and selkie who all want to use her for one purpose or another.

Meanwhile, someone is killing off those employed by the dragon, Janx, and his suspicion is on the vampire, Eliseo. All evidence points to the killer being one of the "Old Races" (one of the paranormal community), but right now I'm confused as to who is doing this because the vampire seemed surprised when he found out about someone wanting to kill the dragon's djinn employee.

Not a lot of real romance, but I enjoy urban fantasy sometimes more than I do a paranormal romance. It depends on the author's skill as to whether or not he or she is able to pull me into a book and make it real for me and make me care about the characters as to whether or not I'll enjoy it. :-)

No worries GV the group will be here when you have the time to post, I'm just glad that people are starting to join and are enjoying it!

It's strange I was never a big reader of paranormal fiction until I picked one up by mistake and I have been hooked ever since. I too enjoy a good urban fantasy over a romance, as long as there is some kind of supernatural element I'm a happy girl...lol!

Let me know how the rest of your series turns out I have it on my TBR pile to read I will be interested in your opinion!

Hello I'm new to the group as of this morning. I am currently reading The Laws Of Blood Series by Susan Sizemore ,I don't know how I missed this series in the past but it's really great.

I am reading the hollow by Nora Roberts - it is the second in the 'Sign of the Seven' trilogy. I enjoyed the first one Blood Brothers and have the third one pagan stone lined up ready to go.

I just got finished reading Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs It was awesome... Can't wait to see if another Mercy Thompson book comes out...

Just started reading Men of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong and enjoying it so far.. Looking forward to seeing more of what everyone else is reading...

I just finished the 3rd book in the Connor Grey series, Unfallen Dead by Mark del Franco. The premise of the series is that the world of Faerie exists and it somehow intersected with the modern day real world. The Fae are in our world and can't get back.

Connor is Fae and a Druid. He is also disabled due to a magical block placed on his powers during a magical fight with a Fae terrorist. Connor was pensioned off and kicked out of the Fae governing body (politics, policing, social services). He settled in a Fae slum in Boston called The Weird and works with the Boston PD as a consultant on magical crime, and tries to survive the power struggles between the Teutonic and Celtic branches of the Fae.

Each book has gotten better in terms of the development of the characters, and their relationships. The setting is well done and the stories are page turners.

Okay, that's not all I have to say! I'm excited that I get to post with a group of people who don't thinnk this stuff is weird. (like my bf. lol). Yays!

Har vs. paper - I'm the same way! If I start a series one way, I like to finish them that way....but if I start a series with paperback....and more come out in the series? I end up buying the hard covers simply because I can't wait another year for the paperback to come out. lol.

Hey, there are more of us paranormal lovers out there then you think I've been on this paranormal fiction kick for 16 years.....wow has it really been that long!

Ok lets see. Currently I'm reading The Remains of The Dead by Wendy Roberts and so far it is very entertaining! I'm also reading the second book in Candace Havens witch series Charmed and Ready and I plan to start Evermore by Alyson Noel in the next day or so.

As you can probably tell I'm one of these people that have a dozen books on the go all the time.....I'm addict...I admit it!

Props to you Kat on reading more than one at a time, I haven't been able to accomplish that. I like sitting reading one book finishing it and reading the next one. I keep them all straight that way. My best friend does that though and I don't know how she does it either lol. BTW Evermore was great....

oh good I'm glad someone else has read Evermore and liked it I was a little leary about picking it up but went for it anyway. I usually like to get a couple good reviews about a book before I buy it.

I got my copy a while ago through the ER here at LT. I enjoyed it I thought it was going to be like Twilight because of the way it started out but it wasn't . I really enjoyed it and I hope you do to..

I'm reading City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare which is pretty good so far. I just wish I could remember more of the first book.

I'm going to start Wake by Lisa McMann. I met her last night at a panel event and she was very nice so I picked up both of her books.

I really loved City of Ashes it was a really awesome read, I couldn't put it down. Now I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the final book it sould be pretty great!

I've seen Wake in the book store and had picked it up a couple of time but I always found something that I wanted more so I put it back. Let me know how you like it, I might have to give it a second look!

Yeah, I've been reading paranormal since...7th grade? I guess since I was 11? 12? About 15 or 16 years :) Actually earlier....since I wasn' thinking of the Christopher Pike books. haha. So 17 or 18 years. Jeebus.

Well, I am kinda new to paranormal and I am really loving it. My best friend just recently got me into it in the last couple of years. I also like Murder mystery and I have noticed that the paranormal go kinda hand in hand.. Which puts me in all kinds of heaven with both.

I read Wake last night all in one sitting. It threw me at first because its written in a almost diary entry type way but from an outside perspective, its very unique to anything I have read before. Before I knew it I was hooked and the book was over. Its very interesting and I would recommend it. I'm going to try and read Fade the second book tonight.

Men of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong This was a great read and a great extension to the Women of the Other world Series. I can't wait to read more about the men. Keep them coming. Getting ready to Start Wicked by Nancy Holder

#36 = Hey!!!! On you recommendation, I bought Wake. I was sad because they didn't have the second book in stock....and now I wish I had it!!! Wake was really good! I enjoyed it. How was the second book? Too bad the third book doesn't come out until 2010!

I also just bought a couple of Kelley Armstrong's book (Bitten and something else...books 1 and 2). Yay for reading! I'm glad I have tomorrow off....!

So I went to the book store over the weekend and bought Carrie Vaughn's Kitty series, the first 5 books anyway. I finally broke down and got them after my friends repeatedly told me to read these books. I haven't started them yet but they are next on my list!

I am also reading men of the otherworld, I have read them online but it's nice to have an actual copy to read at my leisure. I did think her introduction was odd as it was dated sometime in 2007 and the book only recently released.... I have another Dark Hunter novel to read and the who knows what. I always say I will start with ... then get distracted and read something else entirely different.

Hi. Right now I'm reading Wicked by Nancy Holder. I'm enjoying it. I just finished Evermore by Alyson Noel, which I also liked.

I'm just about to start Evermore I keep hearing such great things about it.

#47 I would recommend Evermore. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It had a lot of qualities similar to Twilight and at first I thought it was going to be lame attempt to drag in Twilight readers. In the end, I thought it stood on its own fairly well. I'm looking forward to reading the sequels.

#48 I'm about 50 pages into the second book in Wicked. I really liked Witch but Curse seems like it's never going to get going with the story. I'd say more about that but I don't want to give anything away! ;)

Hi I just joined the group so i'm jumping in with what i just finished Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs and I would recommend Rachel Vincent series werecats, Stray Rogue, Pride.

Welcome to the group. I love patricia Briggs her mercy series is fantastic. I haven't yet had a chance to read anything by Rachel Vincent but I do have stray on my list to read as part of my Paranormal 999 challenge.

#50 - how was bone crossed? I have it but haven't read it yet! It's been so long since I've read the mercy series I was thinking about re-reading the last few :)

hello, I'm fairly new to this genre. A co-worker turned me on to Kim Harrison and Laurell K. Hamilton a couple of years ago. I've enjoyed some of Nora Roberts when she gets into weird paranormal stuff. Liked Twilight series. I've been looking for other authors & you all have given me lots of leads for my tbr list, which is getting ridiculously long, as I will read just about anything & am constantly crossing over into other genres. Also, I am now experiencing empty nest ("yay!") and do not have to attend recitals, football games, PTA meetings, Booster Club meetings, etc. Which gives me time to catch up on 25 years of reading (I never even got around to reading Ann Rice as I was too busy reading children's books--which I also adore, being a mom and children's librarian. Interspersing Newbery Award books with smutty paranormal may make me a little schizo....but it's all good. :)

I found once I started to read Paranormal fiction I was totally hooked and now that's pretty much all I read any more. I still throw a historical, mystery, fantasy or horror in there once in awhile just to break things up a bit. Good luck with your catching up :)

Ok I just started Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn and I'm also reading Real Vampires have Curves and Personal Demons all are very good so far.

#52 Bone Crossed was great Briggs stayed true to her characters she does brush on what happened in previous books but she is an authur I like to sit down and re-read all the books every now and then. have you read Cry Wolf (Alpha and Omega, Book 1) introducing new some new friends. I read at least a book a day even when I try to slow down I can't stop so any recommendations!!!

I have started on dancing with werewolves, not sure what to think at the moment, I am still a few chapters in and it seems.....odd... but it might pick up in the next few pages.

Witch by Nancy Holder - I enjoyed this, however going back in forth in time confused me at times in the story. But overall it was a descent read. Well off to read Curse the second installment in the book.

Curse by Nancy Holder - Well in Curse I think I was a little more used to her writting style because I enjoyed it. Not as much as some others that I have read but am willing to start Wicked 2. Overall it was a descent story. Following, Amanda, Nicole & Holly all the way through should prove interesting in the Cahors/Deveraux fued.

From the Wizards catagory of my Paranormal 999 Challenge I am reading Melusine by Sarah Monette. So far, so good.

wasn't that fond of dancing with werewolves I have the next in series on my TBR shelf, might just read it to clear it off and add another X to my 999 challenge.

I have just started on Jenna Black's the devil's due which is third book in the Morgan Kingsley series. It's certainly adding more intrigue, I think it won't be hard to finish this book off tonight.

I have added Wake, Fade and Evermore to my wanted list. A surprise that our local library has a copy, except it'll probably be a year or two as the waiting list is over 50 for each one. Yikes!

I'm reading Made to be Broken. While it's not a paranormal, it IS by Kelley Armstrong (Women of the Otherworld) and is absolutely wonderful. It's the second in a series about a Mafia hitwoman who uses her job to finance her country lodge. Really good stuff!

I have just started The Pagan Stone the final book in the Sign of the Seven trilogy.

I have enjoyed the series so far - hoping she won't let me down in the last one :)

I just started Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. I'm hoping I start to enjoy it more since I bought the next seven books already since I assumed I'd love it.

I just started High Stakes by Erin McCarthy and i'm only about 5 chapters in and I have to say I haven't laughed this much reading a book in a long time.

I am reading Nightlife by Rob Thurman, first book in the Cal Leandros series. I am enjoying it.

#64 - I really hope you enjoy that series as much as I did I wish her books came out faster, because I truly enjoy that series. I have so many books on my TBR list that I am hoping someday I will get to her other series as well.

#65- I've read another book by Erin McCarthy and loved it (some chick lit/romance book, forget the title, it was a while ago), and have been wanting to read her vamp series since I assumed it would be hilarious. Can't wait to start the series!

#67- Love hearing that you loved the series. Maybe the first one is just slow-going, but once I'm hooked I'll be there to stay. I'm starting to enjoy Bitten more, but it's taking a while. It just seems like there's a whole lot of Elena having to describe everything- the past, references, how she feels, in order to move on. I'm hoping that once that background is covered, Armstrong keeps to the story. I may just be impatient for all the action!

just picked up karen macinerney's Howling at the Moon which is really quite funny. I have been puzzling about a concept she has with werewolves and that is keeping the hairyness at bay. One of bit's in it is a werewolf running around with shaved legs, a bit of a laugh really :)

Legacy by Nancy Holder - overall a descent story line. I enjoyed the action, however in some places it seemed to drag out a little longer than I like. The story of the covens uniting is interesting and the Deveraus/Cahors fued is still on and I am looking forward to reading the next one Spellbound.

I finished Nightlife by Rob Thurman. I enjoyed it and will keep reading the other books in the series. It did have some issues, but pretty minor and the major one the author corrected.

I just started to read Real Vampires Live Large by Gerry Bartlett it'sthe secong in her Glory St.Clair series and so far is very good. I am also going to be starting the secong book in Erin McCarthy's Vagas Vapmires series Bit the Jackpot.

I bought the latest book in the highlander series by melissa mayhue - yay!

Then, i'll be reading fade. Yay!

it's my fiance's birthday weekend this weekend....hoepfully I can still get some book time in. it's been a birthday WEEK so far. lol

It's been a really busy week and I haven't had much time to read I'm hopeing the next few days will turn that around!

I just finished reading Wicked 2 by Nancy Holder and I have to say when I started reading this series it took me a while to get into but I am glad I continued to read on and didn't give up. I enjoyed this series and am actually looking forward to the next and final book coming out. The Cahors/Deveraux fued made for an interesting story line.

I just started Kitty and the midnight hour by Carrie Vaughn I am hoping to get through these quickly so I can get caught up on my challenge I feel like I am getting behind with only 12 books read this year so far, I have lots more to go to make 75 in 09.

I just finished re-reading The Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris.

I just finished ready Kitty and the Midnight hour by Carrie Vaugh - DJ Kitty the werewolf, cute little twist with the name and species. I really enjoyed reading this book. It has some good action areas and Kitty seems to get herself into a lot of trouble trying to just be herself. But, when you are part of a pack and want to be yourself that isn't such a good idea. Kitty is an interesting character and I enjoyed reading her story. I am diving right into the next series in the book, because I am excited to see what Kitty does next.

Anyone read the Enchanted, Inc. series by Shanna Swendson? There's four in the series - so far - and I'm reading the last in the series Don't Hex with Texas. They're a bit of light fluff and really quite fun.

Whar are they about? Are they steamy at all? ;) Do the main characters stay the same or change?

They're much more of a paranormal chick lit style. I love them! They are very cute and I love the world that Shanna Swendson created. Highly recommend them!

Kitty goes to washington by Carrie Vaughn - DJ Kitty has gotten herself into quite a mess this time. She has to go before the senate and gets stopped by the Men in Black on her way to DC. The proceed to take her to a Vampires house where they say she will be protected from those of her own kind in the area. She decides to trust them, then proceeds to go out and about on her own and finds herself into more than she realized she was going to get into. This book was great and I won't go anyfurther as I don't want to put spoilers out there. But I am really enjoying the series thus far. So off to read the next one.

Main premise of the series - there is magic in the world (wizards, fairies, gargoyles, etc.) Most people can't see the magic because the wizards, et al. have cloaking spells. But, there are a few folks (like Katie) who are "immune" - they see the world just as it is and see thru the cloaks. Check them out. I think you'll find them fun.

Kitty Takes A Holiday by Carrie Vaughn - Once again Carrie does it. Creates excitement and adventure with Kitty and her pack. She starts of having a nice holiday by herself and ends up with quite the mess on her hands with people trying to get her to leave. Cormac suprises her with a visit and a very under the weather Ben. I don't want to give to much away but again I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to crack open the next one.

Kitty and the Silver Bullet by Carrie Vaughn - I really enjoyed this one as well. Things start out with Kitty learning her mom is sick and that means she has to go back to Denver, where she has been running from for about the last year. She is concerned about going back to upset her previous pack and have a confrontation and tries to stay low, however as in previous books you know as well as I do that isn't going to happen and the battle is on. Don't want to spoil anything here but lets just say I enjoyed the action and the romance at the end.

I am reading Evermore by Alyson Noel ,Bone Crossed ,Secret Life of a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks,Highlander in Her Dreams and A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray.

Another person who can't just read one book at a time. I'm not alone!.

Right now i'm reading City of Glass by Cassandra Clare, Stargazer by Claudia Gray and Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey.

I really enjoyed Evermore and A Great and Terrible Beauty. Two really good reads!

I'm rereading the Sookie Stackhouse series. Right now, I'm on Dead as a Doornail. Can't wait until I get to the Quinn stuff. I'm rereading because I only buy paperbacks and I just got my copy of From Dead to Worse. Apparently, Sookie has some more betrayal coming her way. I don't like the sound of this, so I'm itching to get to the new stuff!

I have just finished Brimstone Kiss and felt it was a stronger book than the last one. I am thinking off starting Second Skin by Caitlin Kittredge next.

Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand by Carrie Vaughn - A quick job on TV how exciting as well as a Vegas wedding sounds easy and fun. Well not for Kitty and Ben, they get to meet the so called master for Vegas and a group of were cats in this one as well as a bunch of gun toting killers who are hunters of their kind. What a series of events, Kitty just can't stay out of trouble can she. Fun and interesting and making me want to read more about Kitty and her pack. I am really enjoying this series and can't wait to read more.

Starting Hunted by P. C. Cast next cause I can't wait to read the latest plus my best friend is begging me to read it next so she can read it. LOL :-)

Huntress by L. J. Smith - This was the first section in the Night World No 3 book - I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the main character Jez and how she thought she knew who she was and then came to realization that she wasn't what she thought she was and found out her true heritage. Then she was afraid that her friends who where always there wouldn't accept her for what she was, so she ran off to be her other self. Well that didn't work out so well either for her. So she goes back expecting to be killed and for other reasons to help out her kind, but she finds that well I won't spoil it for anyone lets just say the battle's were exciting and made me stay up past my bed time just so I could turn the page. I enjoyed it very much and am getting ready to read the next one Black Dawn.

Black Dawn by L. J. Smith - This is the 2nd section of the Night World No 3 book - Once again I enjoyed this as well. Main character Maggie is a human girl who is captured by the Night world while searching for her brother whom she was told died. She didn't really believe the story his girlfriend gave when the police came with Sylvia to tell Maggies parents and her about his death, so she went off on her own to find out answers and got more than she bagained for. The way this one is written you know it is in more of a modern time however it takes you back to old times with castles and such and even though you know in the back of your mind it is still modern times you feel drawn in by the oldness of the castle and it drew vivid images in my mind.
