No red light on cue cat

I just took delivery of my cuecat a couple of days ago. Can't make it work on Windows 98 - no surprises there I guess. Have used it on my children's computers with varying degrees of success and managed to scan in quite a few books. Now I can't get a red light out of it at all. Any suggestions?

I've plugged my cuecat into my PC and there' no red light at all. I got the cuecat quite a while ago, and it worked just fine. I haven't used it in a while -- is it dead?

It may be. That's very odd, actually - could it have been dropped while you weren't using it? Oh, and do try it in a different USB port - it may be the port that's dead and not the cat. There's no reason for it to spontaneously stop working - it's very simple inside, with no moving parts - but if it refuses to light up, yeah, it's dead.
