What areas of interest do we have present here?

I am interested in heraldry and in commerce.

I know that Erilar is interested in German philology and barding.

What other areas do you consider within your special perview?

Everything? OK then: religious history, middle-eastern history, home-based arts and crafts, beadwork, costuming, textiles, dying (both kinds - funerals and colors). I should stop...

Kinda OT: My favorite funeral is the one near the beginning of The Magnificent Seven, where Yul Brenner and Steve McQueen drive the hearse with the body of an indigent Indian up to Boot Hill in the face of opposition from some "exclusive" elements in the town.

Let's see, I shoot arrows very enthusiastically but seldom well.

I illuminate scroll blanks in fits and starts.

I research my time and place (late 12th and early 13th century HRE) and my ancesters' (my original persona was an 11th century Viking, hence early Scandinavia) somewhat obsessively.

Anything Viking Age? ;-)

I generally do music, calligraphy, and textiles in the SCA other than researching my persona's time and place so my books are tending towards that a bit.

I have books about Scandinavian marine archaeology you won't find in Wilson library. .

I am new here...
I am interested in calligraphy and paleography, especially early period northern European and Russian.
Also interested in just about anything Anglo Saxon England - textiles, history, politics, religion, education - I know most about education and history and learning about the others...
And I have an interested in beverages - cordials and wine, especially hypocras and I am reading a lot about spices...

Autumn Rose will have a middle eastern feast. We sampled the menu last week. The spice combinations were a new experience. (Cinnamon does wonders for an otherwise mundane chicken soup.)

Wow! 2009! I still like spices, but I've been working on wild herbs that might have been eaten in Europe, AKA invasive weeds. I'll be teaching a class on time and one on the calendar at WW 2018.
