Hi all,

Group members may be interested in the following new press and new publication.

https://www.nepenthepress.co.uk/category/unquiet-slumbers

There are still limited and numbered editions available. I've pre-ordered and thought it may be of interest here.

Here it is (from https://www.nepenthepress.co.uk/folkhorror):

About the Book
Like tales of folklore and fairytale passed on orally over centuries, Folk Horror too is an ever evolving, and shape-shifting entity. Most famous perhaps are the three flagship films 'The Wicker Man', 'Blood on Satan's Claw' and 'The Witchfinder General, but in written form, Folk Horror has a rich history.

Writers such as M R James, Arthur Machen, Eleanor Scott and Algernon Blackwood were past masters, invoking fear and foreboding through tropes which have come to embody Folk Horror. Rural settings, a sense of isolation, superstition, paganism, the old gods, the awakening of a buried past and the darkest aspects of nature.

>10 Pax_Romana: Yes, if the next volume is Poe, then I'm glad to be holding a place for it.

Only ten copies of the slipcased edition (that most people above seem to be buying) are still available. Time for FOMO!

Just finished 'Wuthering Heights' and realized that 'Unquiet Slumbers' is taken from the last paragraph of that book!

New post up with some artwork previews, this is looking very nice. I've seen a lot of this "wet paint" style in horror art over the past decade, it works well when done properly.

Update from the publisher on availability.

Good news for anyone who didn't manage to secure a slipcased, limited edition of Unquiet Slumbers or a lettered edition. We had been asked to hold a couple of copies, but have heard nothing since, so we can now offer three copies of the slipcased edition and one copy of the lettered edition for pre-order.

We are also now down to the last 20 copies of the signed, limited edition hardcover which can be ordered via the link:

https://www.nepenthepress.co.uk/category/all-products.

Newsletter out with info on Nepenthe Press's forthcoming Poe editions. While the main volume will be printed offset, there will be a limited run of The Fall of the House of Usher in letterpress. Some are to be included with the lettered edition of the main volume, while the rest will be sold on their own.

>24 Shadekeep: Being new to fine press I can't help but wonder, did I come in during an unusual period or are there just an inordinately high quantity of Poe just laying around?

26Shadekeep
Mag 22, 11:41 am

>25 CenSur: Poe remains a popular subject of fine press, in part due to the excellence of his work and familiarity with readers, and in part due to being in the public domain. A fair number of fine presses have Poe in their lineup, just like a lot of string quartets have Vivaldi in their repertoire.
