A few days ago, I separated two authors with the same name: https://www.librarything.com/author/stansfieldre (disambiguation page).
Second author is correct, and for the first author it states that:
R. E. Stansfield (1) : R. E. Stansfield-Cudworth
and links to the page (with LibraryThing Author accreditation):
https://www.librarything.com/author/stansfieldre-1
Yet there is also another page for the same author (attached to the book):
https://www.librarything.com/author/stansfieldcudworthre
I tried to create an alias to try to merge the stansfieldre-1 page into the stansfieldcudworthre page but I'm not sure it has worked.
How can I merge the two pages into one single page?
Ideally, there should be only the stansfieldcudworthre page.
I hope someone can help with this, thanks.

The alias worked. You can't merge them without drawing in the other one as well.

>2 Nicole_VanK: Actually his aliasing did not work. I cleaned up a lot of stuff. I'm not sure why the book is still showing on the divided page, but I suspect that if the pages are left alone now for a few days, it will end up only on the second page, and then the first page can be saved as a single author.
Note: Canonical title and name should only be used if there is a real problem with the calculated value. Otherwise they should be left blank. If you have the only copy of a work and don't like the work title, you can edit your title and then 'recalculate title/author' (lower right of work page).

Thanks everyone for your help - I think I must have made a few mistakes somewhere along the way so thanks for tidying things up a bit.

You will want to ask staff to move your LT author to https://www.librarything.com/author/stansfieldcudworthre
