Have you seen any movies that were made from a book? Have you read any books that would have make a great movie? Tell us about it.

Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter I read in 2019; borrowed from the New Haven Public Library. I gave it 2 1/2 stars of 5. Three stars for me meant not sorry to have read & it was entertaining; 2.5 ok but not sure it was worth the time. I don't remember too much, but probably because some of it seemed a little too far fetched even for a thriller. Anyway, now watching the 8 part series on Netflix though not urgently; seen 1 & 2. OK so far. Certainly remember the scene when mom & daughter are in a cafe (I think in Georgia) & mom does something unexpected though the lad seems all too familiar. Toni Collette is the mom; she's fine. The other actors I don't know. Slaughter writes fairly gripping thrillers; surprised I only have a few in my personal library.

Whatever Happened to Pudding Pops?: The Lost Toys, Tastes, and Trends of the 70s and 80s
Gael Fashingbauer Cooper
3/5 stars
The authors talk about the bygone products, TV shows, stars and trends of the 70’s and 80’s. If you grew up in that time period you will probably get a kick out of this book. Anyone up for a candy cigarette?

4/5 stars
In this book, Chuck Jones who worked for Warner Brothers, discusses his life growing up and his career in animation, drawing Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pigs and many more toons. This book contains lots of his sketches and drawings. I enjoyed it and all the sketches, cartoons and pictures.

One book to movie that sticks in my mind from the 1980's is Year Of The Dragon by Robert Daley a novel I really enjoyed as a youth and found that it had even been improved upon by the Michael Cimino movie of the same title. A rare thing I think, that movies are better than the books. I'll have to revisit them and see what I think 40 years later!
