It's an amazing book and I'm embarrassed I've never heard of it. I never thought comics could do something like this.

Can anyone recommend other graphic novels like this?

Thanks.

edit: spellcheck

Your post and the other reviews on LT prompted me to add to my wishlist. Since I haven't read it, can't answer your question but am interested in anything others add.

What part of Pax Romana did you like? The story? The execution? The author style? If you liked the style, you might try The Nightly News for example but the story is quite different...

Comics can do pretty much anything when given the chance :)

Ooh! Another wishlist title! Sounds a bit like Transmetropolitan in brash attitude, but it would appear the story is quite different.

Thanks. Nightly News is already on my wish list; and Transmetropolitan, Book 1 is on my to check out list.

What really floored me was the ambition of Pax Romana.

Ambition is something you can find in a lot of the non-main universes comics. Execution is a different story sometimes.
Hickman is constantly good so if any of his other books interest you as topics, try them. Warren Ellis as well. Brian K. Vaughan is another of the current good authors.

If you like the gritty and noirish, Ed Brubaker and even Ennis (with some warnings there...) are also worth a look.

Brian Wood has two pretty good series - DMZ and Northlanders (plus a few smaller things). I'd recommend Northlanders but it is not for everyone.

It's hard to recommend based on one title.:)
