Hi; I'm trying to remember a novel published in late 70s or the 80s. It is *not* Joanna Russ' The Female Man, but it has a similar structure in some ways -- 3 or 4 women in parallel universes / alternate realities, somehow interacting with each other or related to one another. Mid-list author if I recall correctly. I keep thinking, for instance, Michaela Roessner (not her), Lisa Mason (not her) ....

Help?

Maybe Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy?

I'm not sure why Touchstones aren't working.

Nope, definitely not Piercy/WOTEOT; a woman writer, yes, but someone a lot less well-known.

Probably not right, but sounds a little like "The Cloning of Joanna May" by Faye Weldon. No parallel universes though, just clones who end up meeting each other.

No, good guess, but that's not it, either.

(Although along those lines, check out the film "Conceiving Ada".)

It was Infinity's Web by Sheila Finch (1985). Found it when looking through an old list of things I read way back when ....

Was it a short story? Meets a young boy whose parents tweaked his genes to predispose him to become a great artist? Almost had it, tip of my tongue but can't place it. Damn, shouldn't have wasted time typing.
