The Book Escape 2 locations, Federal Hill on Light St. and Downtown on Calvert St. I live only a few blocks from the Federal Hill location so I cannot speak to the Calvert St. (which is new) store. The Book Escape is small with 90% used books all in good condition. Very well organized with all major topics covered so you can find books no matter your interest. Very friendly staff and best of all it has the great used book store smell. Not a huge place so don't go looking for only one book but have a few in mind. I go looking for a favorite author or two and manage to find something.
Red Emma's Coffeehouse Bookstore, Saint Paul St. in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood. This is an interesting place, very tiny in the basement of a large historic building it only has a few rows of books. Don't go looking for the latest best seller, or really any fiction. Almost exclusively non-fiction all related to politics, social issues, ect. (though I did pick up a copy of Animal Farm here it still fits with the general theme) Not a run of the mill place but worth the quick stop stop for coffee as a break from the other attractions in the neighborhood.
