I'm looking for historical mysteries set in Northern European Countries (Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden). Does anybody have any recommendations?

Duh *slaps head* Thanks for unscrambling my brain.... I'll go take a look.

Unslap that head! Tagmashes are rather blunt instruments so you may still need to ask the audience for recommendations.

You’re right, tagmashes are very rough worktools, but I should’ve at least tried it before asking. I did find some books that could be classed as historical mysteries, or at least come close to it, judging from the reviews and descriptions.

The Cloud Sketcher by Richard Rayner might work for Finland, although it seems to be more of a historical fiction than a historical mystery. (Funnily enough, Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie also popped up in this tagmash. Don’t ask me why, though!)

The King’s Book (Koningsboek for the touchstone)by Arnaldur Indridason looks like a good book with both mystery and historical elements in it when it comes to Iceland.

The Christmas Mystery by Jostein Gaarder is a bit like The King’s Book in that it combines the historical with mystery without actually being a historical mystery. It still sounds very intruiging though, and might work for Norway.

I couldn’t find anything for Sweden though.

So, more recommendations are certainly welcome!

I've just started reading The Killing Way An Arthurian Mystery by Tony Hays. Not Norse, but similar times. I've yet to get into it so can't really recommend it at the moment.

Just completed the trilogy: Viking: Odin's Child, Viking: Sworn Brother and Viking: King's Man by Tim Severin and loved them so much. Don't quite know if they constitute mysteries, but they're page-turningly good!
