Eris Young

An excellent book on asexuality, Ace Voices goes beyond the basic "asexuality 101" topics (defining what asexuality is, proving that it really is a thing, etc.) that most of the other books on the subject (that I have read) have focused on. Non-binary author Eris Young uses detailed interviews with a diverse selection of asexual and ace-spectrum people to delve deeply into topics such as race, gender, love, sex, and relationships, and how these relate to being asexual or aromantic. I found this a deeply interesting and relatable book. I especially appreciated how Young emphasized the often ambiguous and variable nature of being ace, aro, or demi. We have two parallel stories running, one with "aliens" appearing and the MC is trying to learn how to communicate with them, and in the other, the MC has a transgender gf who isn't telling them what is wrong.

The host of the podcast helped me see that is a story about the inability to communicate. With the aliens "they" can't communicate verbally and with the humans "they" can't communicate because of emotions of fear and frustration.

The story didn't work for me without the host "explaining" therefore my personal rating is low. ymmv.… (altro)
