Andrew Young (2) (1885–1971)

A very sweet little book with 6 delightful wood engravings scattered throughout. The dust jacket tells us that, "The poetic quality of Jesus' teaching and of the Gospel narratives has often been remarked upon, but it is a theme that needs a poet to do it full justice." Young, the "English Robert Frost" does thus render justice. BTW -- regarding my copy: someone has obviously paper clipped something (now missing) to the first two pages of my book, thus leaving pronounced indentations in the paper that I cannot seem to smooth out. This person should be castrated, horsewhipped, drawn & quartered and left howling in the burning fiery pit. :)… (altro)

I found the content absorbing and the images like all his, simply enchanting (There's a bit about reflected water-drops from a raised oar rushing up to meet the real water drops - lovely!) but my ear was a bit unsatisfied. I believe 'Blank Verse', unrhymed five footers, is not a metre to be written loosely.
