This is a great book for a general overview of how we research evolution and human development. It would be a nice intro to give to an open-minded religious person. The author discusses the history of the research, the changes in views as new facts are uncovered and old racisms are discarded. This is not a book about racism in science, racism is just mentioned in reference to how white supremacy impeded our understanding of evolution and the science of man--for books on racism in science, the two best I've read are Broca's Brain by Carl Sagan, and The Disorded Cosmos by Chonda Prescod-Weinstein… (altro)

While I'm interested in *what* scientists/researchers know of evolution, this account focuses on *how* they know what they know. The historical side takes second place to the technical aspects, therefore it didn't appeal to me as much as hoped.

The writing itself is very good, though, and anyone wanting to know more about studying fossils, etc., should like this short account.
