The series is getting better as it goes along.

A decent entry into the "chosen one" trope - but the made up "language" (just phrases here and there without a complete glossary) and the half-developed magic system are keeping me from rating it higher.

Picked this up because someone on booktok said SJM had ripped it off, but I'm not seeing direct ties like with Anne Bishop's Black Jewels series. It's not bad, though I have a feeling the made up words will annoy me at some point.

The Winter King is an epic fantasy novel and a romance. So much happens in this book. The world that the author set up has a lot of depth and is really interesting.

Khamsin and Wynter are great characters and they are great together. They are drawn to each other from the beginning, but it takes a good amount of time for them to fall in love. Wynter spends a lot of time pushing Khamsin away, but eventually realizes that he's an idiot and fixes it.
