This was an interesting book. It veered toward horror a little, but not so much that I couldn't enjoy the story. I like the main character and her bravery in awful situations. I'm thinking I will continue on with the series.

I read GRAVE LIES in a single day. I couldn’t put it down! Forty years ago, Heather Davenport unearthed two bodies in a shallow grave on her grandmother’s ranch. The “bride and groom” murders as they have come to be called were never solved and they still haunt Heather all these years later while she serves as an FBI investigator. She contacts the Mercury Group—paranormal investigators including Penny Wright and Zandra Mendez who use their paranormal abilities to solve cold cases. Every member of the Mercury Group has a different ability. Some can touch objects and get a reading, seeing into the past. Penny can talk to ghosts. Zandra can read people’s emotions. A.N. Willis is a terrific writer who really knows how to create suspense. I loved how the tight pacing and interesting characters drew me from scene to scene as we learn more about the local townspeople, the cult-like church in town that has lots of secrets and how they come into play with the two people who were found—and who they were. This was a terrific read and I can’t wait to read more in the series! 5/5 stars.… (altro)

Entertaining story of professional ghost wranglers. Would be a good series to read.

I received a complimentary copy of Devil’s Night as one of its beta readers. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I absolutely devoured this paranormal romance/ghost story, the second ghost story I’ve read by author A.N. Willis. Penny has known she was different ever since she was a child—that her ability to see ghosts was something unusual even in her small Colorado hometown where paranormal rumors ran wild and her father published a book about her and their famous ancestor, Marian. Now a decade after she left home for college in California, she’s come back to Colorado for the Devil’s Night celebration to promote a product for her company—and the paranormal activity is intensifying. Also there’s the issue of Matthew, her childhood sweetheart who she may not have ever gotten over.

I loved the setting in this one. Some books are just like taking a trip while you’re in their pages, and Devil’s Night totally immersed me in this small Colorado town with its lavish descriptions. I also loved the characters, especially Penny, Lyndon, Matthew and Marian. I am a lover of many genres, and this was a wonderful blend of PNR, with a great paced mystery to go along with it. Told in dual timelines, we see events unfold for Penny and Matthew in the present, while seeing how they happened for her ancestor Marian in the past. (So a bit of historical fiction as well!) I can’t wait for book two!
