In Loving, Montana it’s Christmas Eve. Maya, working the closing shift at the café, finds herself stranded when her truck refuses to start. Dean Manning comes to her rescue, only to find her house overrun with raccoons; thus, they end up spending Christmas together while Dean’s friend exterminates the raccoons.
Loving is the place Maya used to visit her Gran and Gramps; at thirteen, she and Dean shared a kiss. Then, when her parents passed away, Maya no longer spent summers in Loving. She’d only recently returned when she’d inherited her grandparents’ house.
For Dean, having Maya return to Loving gives him hope that he might have a second chance with the girl his heart simply cannot forget. Maya, however, has sworn off relationships and remains focused on opening her own bakery in a small shop on Riverwalk.
Will Christmas bring Dean a miracle? Can he and Maya find their way to each other?
With a sweet holiday story built around two likable characters, readers are sure to find themselves rooting for Dean and Maya to find their happily-ever-after. Shy artist-Dean juxtaposed with business-focused Maya each find themselves surprised by the other; Maya’s reluctance to step into a relationship is at odds with Dean’s desire for that relationship. The give-and-take between the two creates a bit of tension as the unfolding story reveals more about each of them.
In a story filled with cookies, cupcakes, Christmas toys for hospitalized children, Santa, and an elf, readers will find themselves wishing for the holiday [and the story] to last just a bit longer.
