An excellent resource to study the critical issue of Biblical Authority and the Age of the Earth (the subtitle of the book). A group of 12 scholars, all except one with earned Ph. D.'s, provide a comprehensive survey of the critical issues that every informed Christian leader must make a decision on in regards to the place of and the appropriate ways to interpret Genesis. This is not a light book, one that can be assimilated quickly and the material is of primary importance in a day of skepticism about the role of the Bible and its place of authority in Bible-believing churches. The two editors have provided a huge service to the evangelical church in organizing this material for all students of the Bible.
Some, even many, of those who hold to other ideas about creation, such as progressive creationists, evolutionary creationists, theistic evolutionists and old-earth creationists, have never given serious study to this subject from the perspective of young earth creationists. They do themselves a favour by carefully studying this book. It is so easy to only deal with "strawman arguments" to dismiss positions that oppose your own. By reading this book, you will at least give some credibility to your own arguments for your own position. And, if you are brave enough, you might even present your own counter-arguments once you have understood what responsible young earth creationists actually teach.
If unity is to be had in the evangelical church, we must come to some understanding of one another, even if lock step agreement is not achieved. It is the truth that sets one free...and we recognize that the ultimate truth is, of course, the Son of God. This book, I believe upholds the Truth, by correcting false notions to arrive at better understanding of certain truths, found in and taught by the Scriptures.

John Whitcomb rejects the idea that secular evolution or theistic evolution are useful hypotheses. He sets forth a case for Biblical creationism that is understandable by young and old.

Over 250,000 copies sold. This anniversary edition celebrates 50 years of Whitcomb and Morris's biblically-based system of creationism and catastrophism that unifies and correlates scientific data from early earth history a modern creationist classic.

Daniel (Everyday Bible Commentary series) by [Whitcomb, John C.]I enjoy reading these commentaries. They cover information in a way that I may not have seen before.

This commentary is written by John Whitcomb and is written in a conservative view. However, this did not sway my view one way or the other because it is written from a historical view of Daniel's time and then helped me see what is said to come.

After I review these books my husband will often take them to help him in his Bible study group that he leads but it is also helpful to the student, such as my self.

This book takes the reader through the book of Daniel verse-by-verse. Which helps to obtain a better view than one that covers the entire book in general terms.

I was given this book by Moody Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

One of the seminal works for creationism in the latter half of the 20th century. Influential and caused a revival in creation science. Well worth a read, and fundamentally based on a sound premise.½

The book of Daniel is one of those books in the Bible that can be difficult to decipher, what with it being a book of prophesy. Finding a good commentary to help you better understand can be a struggle. Some commentaries are just as hard to understand as the text itself but Daniel: Everyday Bible Commentary by John C. Whitcomb is a commentary that can be used by anyone!

Taking you verse by verse, the author takes the time to break down each verse to help the reader better discern the text. With a considerable amount of historical background also included, this is a wonderful resource that any Bible scholar would treasure. Highly recommend!

Presents a very logical view of how the Biblical flood explains what we find today in archeology, paleontology etc.
