Wei-Wei

This book was a pleasure to read, and I think that like me, you will want to read about Wei's father, Yong Da, and to learn more of his story as he grew up in China and raised his family there. In addition to being about her dad it is Wei's story too. Her family lived in the difficult years of Mao and war and were forced to do manual labor instead of the jobs they were trained for. As a young teenager Wei was sent to Inner Mongolia to work as a farm laborer when the universities were closed across China.
The story continues as Wei moves to the United States and she invites her widowed dad to live with her husband and young daughter in California. The question becomes will her dad stay in the USA as Wei dearly desires or will he return home to his beloved China. I appreciate how the author handles the sensitive father/daughter dynamics as they reconnect after long years apart.… (altro)
