Obsesseddddd. I love everything about this story from the beginning to end. The banter was chef's kiss. Neri has me melting. I absolutely loved the characters of this story. The way everything is woven together, I couldn't be more happier with this.

Even though I’m in this series for raina and alexus i still enjoyed this rather raunchy jaunt with nephele and Neri. (That last scene with the “triple” lol wtf).

Where do I start? This book is fantastically written while intertwining the lives of the witch and the wolf clan. I love how the romantic story is not thrown right up front but yet stays as an undertone making you want to get to the end. Take abreak from reality and read this book for a taste of the fantasy realm and a pick me up for your heartstrings. Amazing!

The Witch Collector is a romantic fantasy about revenge turning into a quest for the greater good. The magic and world-building are very good, and the main character, Raina is particularly strong. I especially like that she is non-verbal and uses sign language which is so unusual for this type of book. What really kept me from being immersed is the style of writing that is in a fairy tale vein; I'm not sure if this is to evoke signing language, or to make it sound like folklore, or just a style that the author prefers but I guess I like a more straightforward tone. It does fit with the style of the story, however. And the cover is just gorgeous.

A love story with a difference.

Readers of romantic fantasy will enjoy this book of a love story between a witch and a god (and other mythical creatures). Was enjoyable until nearing the end where the love scenes became a little too descriptive for my taste and spoilt it. Seemed that the story ran out but the book needed a few extra pages of text. In saying this, I am still interested in what will happen in the next book of the series (you can always turn the page if things get a bit too graphic).

As Nephele, Alexus, and their faithful companions grapple with the devastating loss of Mount Ulra, the threat of Thanaos’s reign rises in the East. To prepare, the crew must strengthen the Northland and the Summerland armies, even if it means depending on the one being they never thought would live again: Neri, God of the White Wolf.

Lives this book! The banter of the slow burn enemies to livers had me turning pages for more. I loved the complexity of how the past affects the future and the twists and turns that each character has to face.

I love the Witch Walker series so much! And this novella just continues the love.
This starts exactly where book 2 left off. And while I thought this would just deal with Nephele and Neri and their deal, it goes into more than just that. We get some answers to questions left unsolved. We get more clues into past events. We get more hints for what's to come in the series. This does end in a way for the next book to pick up at, so be prepared.
And my God - And God and God ( Chapter 30 - IYKYK ) - I love Neri so much. I already knew I would love him from the other book, but this just confirmed it. Him and Nephele are *chefs kiss*. I can't wait for the next book - out this fall - to get more answers and see my loves again. The hold this series has on me.

Received as part of LT Early reviewer. Third book in the Witch Walker Series. Normally I prefer to read the series in order, and although there were some sections that reference the first 2 books, I was still able to read and follow along.

I absolutely loved this and of course now need to get all the books in the series!!

The story starts with Nephelle (the Witch) and her friends as well as the God Neri (the Wolf) searching the grove for her sister. The group separates and Nephelle proceeds to bring the God Neri to life in exchange for his help in defeating their enemy and saving her land. The sexual tension between the two, their connection and exchange of magic mixes with secrets from the past that help the continuation and build of the series.

Very good plot and story line. Can't wait to read the others.

Are you ready for a magical adventure like no other? "The Wolf and the Witch" by Charissa Weaks is a heart-stopping thrill ride that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
In this third installment of the Witch Walker Series, Aria faces new enemies and challenges as she fights to protect those she loves. Weaks' writing is both captivating and descriptive, painting a vivid picture of the magical world and its inhabitants.
But it's not just the world-building that makes this book so enthralling - the characters are just as fascinating. Aria is a fierce and complex heroine, and her companions, from the sarcastic Kade to the enigmatic Lorcan, are just as compelling.
The book's pacing is pitch-perfect, with action-packed scenes that will leave your heart racing. And the political intrigue and power struggles between factions add an extra layer of complexity and depth to the story.
Overall, "The Wolf and the Witch" is a must-read for anyone who loves fantasy, magic, and adventure. With its unforgettable characters, immersive world-building, and pulse-pounding action, this book is sure to keep you glued to the page until the very end. So, what are you waiting for? Grab a copy, sit back, and get ready to be transported to a world of wonder and excitement!

A-maz-ing! Absolutely amazing! This book completely consumed me. I can't stop thinking about it. Alexus and Raina are the couple of the year. Bonds, space, and time can't keep them apart.
This book earned a 5 star from me before I was even finished with it. It met all of my criteria! I laughed. I cried. I screamed. The ending has a major cliffhanger that leaves you feeling stressed out and eager for the next book! (release March 28th, 2023) And I can't wait for it.

Looking for a new fantasy book boyfriend? Alexus is the man!

Multiple POV's. More than just Raina and Alexus this time.

The middle of the map in the book is completely cut off because of the pages meeting the binding. Which sucks because you can't see Winterhold or anything.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate sign language used in this book? I mean I've never seen this in a book before. It creates awareness for those who can't speak and includes reality in these amazing novels. Not to mention, I love language barriers in books.

Spice early on.
There are flames on the front of this book for a reason! 🔥
Alexus needs saving quite often. But the magic in this story is amazing! And it's so well written, I can nearly see it.
"You bow to no one"
I. CAN'T. GET. ENOUGH. OF. THIS. It is too good, like a drug I'm addicted to.

Alexus refused to keep fighting for their love. No matter how much she hated him and broke his heart over and over. He's the man we all want and desire.
This book has so much diversity! Very refreshing. Like with Colden and the prince, Zahira and Yaz. And Callan. And of course, Raina.

My heart broke in this book. And it was restored. I feel the vengence that the characters feel. The writing and plot is fantastic and leaves you craving for more more more!
Gods Charissa, I need the third book now!

Below are my *SPOILER* thoughts and reactions at the end of each day reading through the book:

11%: Oh, no you don't little prince! Think you can take my powerful witch collector?! I don't think so! Nuh uh. No sir. I won't have it. I had s feeling that Fleurie was Fury. Sounds so similar. And this is Alexus' first love?! Will she go against him? Wait, does Alexus know her father is Thamaos? Hold up, you mean to tell me that a God can be held back by salt? Weird.

31%: Oh poor Finn. He's so hurt and confused. I do hope he comes to terms with it all though. And hopefully doesn't rebel and go against them.
What the... some of these guys can teleport??
This certainly isn't some simple plot. It's very intricately written and complicated.

46%: "That's my girl" OOH! so good! I actually giggled when she found the second note outside. I love these two so much!
I don't think Neri is all that bad. I could be wrong though. But i want to trust him. Wow. Already up to 4 🔥
Alexus is my new book boyfriend.

62%: "That's my girl" OOH! so good!
I actually giggled when she found the second note outside. I love these two so much!
I don't think Neri is all that bad. I could be wrong though. But i want to trust him. Wow. Already up to 4 🔥
Alexus is my new book boyfriend.

89%: I like kind of Joran. Idk why but I do. I don't trust him.
And I have thulis feeling like something horrible is going to happen.
I HATE THIS! I hate that she doesn't feel the same anymore. That the bond has been nearly severed. It sucks!
Wait. Maybe Joran has been possessed by someone or something. That's why he's different. And why Nephele feels wrongness. And how he can do so much magic and know so much. Maybe he's not all good... a traitor? What if it's Neri?
Raina can teleport! What a badass!
I fucking knew it! IT'S NERI! I still like him. and I trust him.
Thank the gods she's loving him again! But Alexus had a dream of them making love near the ruins of an ancient city... that means something.
Nephele... girl you better set good ground rules with Neri. I really want a POV of Helena and Rhonin. Or hell, a whole book!
"You bow to no one" 😍 Their bond is back!!! 😭🥰😭🥰

Complete: Why do I get the feeling that Fleurie knows who Raina is? And does she fear her rage above everyone else's? She can see the future? WHAT DID SHE SEE??
Oh gods, did the prince take Finn? Is that why she can't see him?
Wait. I'm very confused. Why were they screaming at her? I don't get it.
The willows... from the dream?
What the actual f***!

This was so much more than I expected. So much better than I anticipated. What a great book!
I rated it a solid 4 stars. It so close to being 5 stars because it was nearly perfect. I loved it. I recommend it. I would say that it could have been a little better at the relationship building between the characters. At the moment, it lacks 'living with me'. However, I loved the emotions that it drew out of me! I was getting so frustrated and passionate towards the characters. Several times whilst reading this book, I became so emmersed that I had no consiousness of the world around me and I was consumed in this story. And although I nearly teared up, it did fail to cause a physical reaction from me.
I would give this a 2.5 spice rating. This is a slow burn. Nearly glacial. But when it finally hits... BAM! It hits good!
Tropes: Forced proximity, slow burn
It is set in a fantasy world of witches with Magick battlings gods and shadows. I can't get enough of this and I can't wait to continue the Witch Walker series with City of Ruin!

Below is my SPOILER thoughts and reactions as I read through the book:

17%: Well damn. War right out of the gate. I didn't expect this.

36%: Wait so the sister is cool with Alexus? (And i really thought this was a girl's name.)
If vast magick can be used "across space and time" why didn't they have the magick protect the villages in the past when they were attacked? Ooh, talk about some little embers burning between them 🔥. He has the God knife. I just know it.

63%: Why is it that in these books the man is This powerful And terrible being to be feared but yet once hes met the girl she's constantly saving him and he nearly dies. Often. Like dude how did you survive before??
Is Helena dead? Or possessed?
Okay, I was wrong, he didn't have the God knife.
Just when things are getting spicy, the damn prince has to come in and ruin it! Ugh...
Ooh! He is all mighty and powerful with darkness. 😏 my favorite!
Um, major age gap! He's Un Drallag! What a twist! A powerful sorcerer. And he wants her. But why her? After all these years. After losing his wife?

100%: Oh thank gods Helena was freed! And Alexus is a badass! At least if he would stop needing to be rescued so many damn times. And Raina needs to get over her frustration with Alexus. He's a good man.
I never thought branding would be a trope of mine but here we are. I love it! OH!!!!! "Let me show you what it means to be mine." That is my personal undoing. What. A. Great. Scene. Omg. I mean DAMN!
So many emotions are pouring from me right now! First with Raina finally letting herself be his and he claiming her. And I seriously teared up when she saw Finn, Warek, Mena, and little Saira! I nearly got my physical reaction. And now, their journey begins. Raina and Alexus together. Off to save the king and the world as they know it from Gods and shadows.

City of Ruin by Charissa Weaks. This is the second volume in the Witch Walker Trilogy, so readers should not start here. Much of the story is taken up by following our heroes slogging across land and sea to get to the City of Ruin. Meanwhile, the nameless prince's plan to resurrect a dead god proceeds. There's lots of graphic sex - too much, in my opinion - it mostly didn't advance the plot. The writing is good, and the plot does hang together pretty well. Reviewed from an e-book received through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers Program in return for an unbiased review.

Raina Bloodgood, Colden Moeshka, the awakening Gods, Un Drallag and a few more characters all came together to blend into a great story. Not a new storyline but a few ingenious twists to make it a new and refreshing approach. Some heated sex scenes to keep the blood flowing and a great love-hate relationship (I will let you find out who it was between). The reading was comfortable, no struggling with characters or trying to understand what was happening as can happen in some "second in series" books. I would highly recommend this as a good read if you enjoy magic, waking up Gods and some sex mixed in. I am ready for the next installment - bring it on Raina!

This is a fantastic fantasy with just the right amount of romance and adventure! The writing was worthy, the characters, with their powers and relationships, intriguing and the plot that once drew you in, didn’t let you down. Full disclosure, I was gifted this book from the publisher for a review and didn’t realize this was book 2 in a series, but it did not matter. It only took me a couple of chapters to figure out what was what, but then I was hooked. I’m going back to read the first in this series and I can’t wait for the next release, because I’m invested in these characters and their lives now and am still thinking about them!

This book was so good! The characters;, the plot and my favourite the word building was over the top! As good as the first book in my opinion! The only criticism I have is that it’s difficult to remember all the tales and happenings of the first book so it was a bit difficult to get back into the word. Overall would recommend 100%!

I was anticipating this novel as soon as I finished reading The Witch Collector last year and boy was my anticipation high, it certainly wasn't misplaced. Oh my gods! Where to start! City of Ruin picks up where we last left them. The gang plus others are on their journey to the City of Ruin, to put an end to The Prince with no name and his plans to raise Thaomos. This novel is jam packed with adventure and shocks, oh my gods! The shocks! Those revelations... Seriously! I didn't see them coming... OK maybe one towards the end but I had my doubts! Charissa has a way with building a full novel and drawing you in, the adventure and story drags you in and pulls you under, never letting go until the very last page. I loved the different parts of the world building in this novel, the descriptions created a perfect image for the imagination with it's richness. The characters, oh how I loved the characters with their rich and lushious descriptions. Raina for me felt like she grew not only in strength but in character and depth. Each character held their own surprise for me, their strengths and weaknesses all brought greatness to the table. There's so many moments in this novel that I can't even go into without spoiling it. I love how everything has a connection and there's Easter eggs (so to speak) that ties all the way back to The Witch Collector. There's one major (to me I felt this was. but not *that* other major moment that I believe everyone will agree - right? Did anyone see that coming??) moment in the storyline that I absolutely loved, I thought it was brilliant. It made the whole thing make absolute sense and gave a reason to why it's like how it is. (I'm so very cryptic 😂). I absolutely loved The Witch Collector but I LOVED City of Ruin. I say this a lot about series but in this case when I say I can not wait for the next installment, I actually mean I can not!

2nd in the series. Starts off as the last one finished with extremely graphic (consensual I guess if she's old enough) sex between a 300yr old guy and a young girl. Feels very icky. And sadly this isn't the only occasion. The rest remains much as the first - although I couldn't remember any of the details from that one. There's a gang of heros fighting to save their country by making deals with century long dead gods, hoping to bargain enough of their powers without surrendering control of the country in the process. It was never quite clear (eg no recaps) as to why god1 was any better than god2 and what the other city they had to travel to had anything to do with it.

On the slightly positive at least the antagonist is showing signs of character development and isn't just the Bad Guy for no reason. I'm a big fan of morally ambiguous characters where everybody is doing what they justifiably see as the right thing, rather than being evil for the sake of it.

I'm unlikely to read any further in this series though.½

Let me start off with saying the title of this book is fitting since this book RUINED ME IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE. When I tell you I loved everything about this book, I'm not even exaggerating. I'm not even being dramatic. Just trust me when I tell you, this book was a masterpiece. And I will wait patiently (and yet suffer along the way) until the next book comes out as well as the NOVELLA in 2023!!!

I would first like to thank the author and City Owl Press for an eARC copy of this book. This review however is my honest thoughts on this incredible book.

Okay, so we all know Alexus had me in his grip from book 1 in his first appearance. And I thought no other character could trap me like he did, but Ms. Charissa proved me wrong because NERIIII. Listen, I'm not going to give spoilers because if you read the first book, you must be like, "Neri???? How on earth did you suddenly fall for him??" And to that I say, read the book and wait for it to happen to you too because it will. I still love Alexus though and they're currently fighting for the #1 spot, but for now they will share it.

Raina and Nephele Bloodgood will forever have my love and adoration because they are QUEENS. Strong, fearless, powerful Queens. The way we learn more about them in this book and their past, their family history, their lineage is everything. I just know their development in the following books will have me screaming of joy as a proud mama bear.

I thought I saw the big plot twist coming, and I guessed part of it, but the ending?? The ending I did not see coming. At all. The last 10 chapters had me with a whirlwind of emotions. So I will finish my review off with this.

If you love incredible world building and terrific writing, this is a book for you. If you love heroines who do not need a knight in shining armor and who will tear down the world for those they love, this is the book for you. If you love a love story that will have you giddy with joy but will also hurt so good, this is a book for you. If you have a soft spot for morally grey men who you want to punch in the face but also protect at all costs, this is also for you. The couples in this book, incredible, lovable and I root for them all.

Read this now... please. I can't force you to, but like, you will surely miss out on an incredible book that will make you feel EVERYTHING.

Good world building and great depth to the characters. Nice to have a hearing impaired heroine and signing in a novel. The gods and the Prince with no name were well fleshed out antagonists. The ending was an OH NO!

Let me start by saying that I was lucky to have received an ARC of the first book, The Witch Collector. I remember after reading that I loved the characters, but felt the pacing and plot was off. I rated it 3 stars and wasn't sure if I would continue reading the series.

Fast forward to a few days ago when I received the ARC of City of Ruin. I wanted to see if the plot and pacing improved and OMG... I. Am. Obsessed. This sequel definitely picked up in action, plot, and storyline. The characters are still amazing, even the new ones. I devoured this book and I want more. And that cliffhanger???? Charissa, why???? I mean, I'm hooked, but I'm hurting. I won't spoil anything, but a lot happens at the end. 2023 seems too far away.

As always, Raina is a badass. Love how strong she is. She's amazing. And Alexus is... SWOON. I'm so excited to learn more about Raina's sister, Nephele, and Neri also. Just... These characters and the world Charissa created is everything. I'll end this review with this one quote that I feel so many will end up loving as much as me.

"I think I've loved you for my entire life. And when we're both gone, I will love you still" - Alexus 😍
