When his ship, The Whyte Hart, docks in Whyte Island, Andrew is given instructions that lead him on a journey that will ensure his life is never quite the same again. For Andrew is mysteriously instructed by the ship's captain to meet Charlie Maynard, Whyte Island s president, and with whom he will be staying. Through Charlie and his two daughters, Andrew sees that Whyte Island offers a different, better kind of society and questions the way the mainland is governed. He sees the benefits of the island's pursuit of a perfect society , but also the darker side of achieving a utopian state. And, as a man who lives his romantic life from one minute to another, he desperately tries to navigate the complicated relationship codes of the island. Whyte Island is rather a regimented society in an unknown location, which is separate from the mainland. The inhabitants of the island think themselves and their society superior to all of those around them, and believe that they are ahead of others in all things technological, social and political.
Andrew, a mainlander and a sailor on a series of ships, is holidaying on the island. To outsiders like Andrew, Whyte Island seems strict and regimented. It is a society very different to our own, and one which Andrew must adjust to, particularly when he finds love.… (altro)
