When his ship, The Whyte Hart, docks in Whyte Island, Andrew is given instructions that lead him on a journey that will ensure his life is never quite the same again. Whyte Island is rather a regimented society in an unknown location, which is separate from the mainland. The inhabitants of the island think themselves and their society superior to all of those around them, and believe that they are ahead of others in all things technological, social and political.
