Hana Walker-Brown

It plays like an audio-only version of a really, really good DVD bonus feature. It goes into a LOT of depth into what it takes to make a film and features nice, in-depth interviews with the cast, the heads of various departments, and other crew members within those departments. It's mostly spoiler-free but not quite as spoiler-averse as the making-of book by Ian Nathan.

Also Dan Fogler seems to be having the time of his life narrating this and he makes it so interesting. There were a lot of times where I wished I could just WATCH this documentary instead of listening to it, but it's still very good. I wish it could've gone into a bit more depth on certain plot elements but it's good for what it is.… (altro)

A short Audible book about brain trauma (CTE). I knew about this from football (American) and military blasts, but had no idea the threshold was so low as to make heading a soccer ball (which can be done thousands of time in practice) a problem, and since CTE seems to happen once a sufficiently large number of mild to moderate shocks are taken, wow.

Also learned that apparently women respond even worse to CTE than men, and this hadn’t been studied much (since they weren’t in sport or military datasets). And a particularly common cause of CTE in women is domestic violence.

Overall, a very informative book. Some parts could have been explained a little better if it had been written for a “smarter” or better educated audience, but as a mass market book, it was still really good.… (altro)
