Daniel Walden (1922–2013)

This collection of interviews with Potok spans a couple of decades. They provide a good amount of insight into the author's intent in many of his books. I was impressed by Potok's own self-understanding and analysis of the themes of his work.

This adaptation of the Nutcracker with its wonderful illustrations make this a favorite of mine to read aloud to children at Christmastime.

The story was written by E.T.A. Hoffmann (1776-1822) a short story writer of German decent. This timeless tale of life for a new generation of readers is enduring today as it was in years of old. The illustrations by Don Daily(1940-2002) are classic, colorful, and lifelike...with the Nutcracker illustration being the most masculine that I've seen....No wonder it is still a great holiday story.
