Una noche de carnaval tras cinco años sin una noche libre. Disfrazarse. Ser uno mismo. Estar solo. Emborracharse. Entregarse. Perderse. Reír. Convertire en padre. Añorar. Follar. Llorar. Pelearse. Encontrarse. Mantenerse en pie. Sentirse parte de algo. Vivir.
Ik vond het een wat moeizaam boek, bestaande uit spraakberichten, e-mails, whatsappjes. Het boek draait om Anja, haar ex en haar dochter van een jaar of 10. Anja kan niet goed voor zichzelf zorgen, maar wil wel haar dochter blijven zien. Hulpverlening bemoeit zich ermee, maar het schiet allemaal niet zo op.
Een moeder heeft psychische problemen die haar ook fysiek belemmeren. Daardoor is de verzorging van haar dochter in gevaar en dat heeft effect op het hele gezin

I read this in one sitting; although I guess it's a 'male' read, with boxing, violence, sex, bull-running and a road trip, it's pretty engrossing.
Our main protagonist, Danny, is a boxer, living and training in the Netherlands. The story opens with him running through a city; the reader is immediately aware of something amiss.
As he hitch-hikes out of town, the narrative of the road trip is intercut with his story - his meeting with the lovely Thai girl Ragna - and his gradual realisation of her unfaithfulness. The driver who has picked him up is a family man making his annual trip to Pamplona for the excitement of the bull running. Danny goes along for the ride; the tension cranks up, as they reach their destination... and as the story of Ragna reaches its climax...… (altro)
