The After-Christmas Tree by Linda Wagner Tyler
Story of a time when the holiday ends too soon. One family have a solution.
After the Christmas holidays are over the family brings the tree outside and decorate it for the animals.
They are able to make ornaments for the birds to eat and put bright colored things on it.
They even sent invitations for after Christmas celebration. Pinecones and popcorn the children help decorate the tree.
There are recipes that you can make yourself. The party outside then starts as the kids are warm inside with their hot chocolate.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

This is the story of a pig who gets all excited about his birthday, making cupcakes for his class and planning a sleepover with his two best friends Beatie and Zeff. However, the main character got chicken pox so he had to postpone his celebration. I like this book because it tells of a realistic story that many children can relate to. Also, the pictures are cute and colorful, adding to the few words on each page. The pictures tell the story so that the words can be few. I think the message of the book is that if you are patient, then you can still have fun.

The children are sad that Christmas is over so the family decides to have a Winter Party. They go ice-skating, collect pine cones and then re-decorate the tree with food for the birds and squirrels. As they drink hot chocolate inside they watch the animals coming out to eat off their 2nd round Christmas tree.

What a great idea to read after we come back from Christmas break! I love books that give you ideas to do with your children/students. A nice, easy read with a great message and idea to prolong the season of giving!

Everyone knows that the end of the holidays can bring on a case of the blues. One family has a way to make Christmas last a little longer: a party, complete with ice-skating, cocoa, and an after-Christmas tree, decorated with good things for the animals outdoors to eat! .
