Abuela's Fideo tells the story of a young girl, Dulce, who misses her grandmother who has recently passed away and attemps to recreate the delicious fideo she always used to make. When her first attempt is unsuccessful, Dulce works with her mother to remember all they can about how her grandmother created the dish. These memories, combined with their ultimately much more successful second attempt at fideo, helps them feel close to their departed family member. Tijerina's story is lifelike and genuine, though her cartoon-inspired art style doesn't quite seem to match the sincere and bittersweet tone of the story.… (altro)
