J. A. Thornton (1920–2010)

Gospel preacher and writer. He was baptized by Everett Day, Sr. August 1934. He began preaching at Tiplersville, MS in 1938. His training included Freed-Hardeman College and Delta State College in Cleveland, MS. He authored "I Was A Sky Pilot" in 1947. He conducted several religious debates and preached on radio. He was named in honor of Milton Armor. He preached for churches in Vernon, AL, New Albany and Bonneville, MS. He served on the President’s Advisory Board at Freed-Hardeman University for over 40 years and he was a past chairman of that board.
