H is for Hundredth Meridian!! Look forward to sharing this with a younger generation someday.
Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing.This book is loudly Canadian, and pretty straightforward. It's an alphabet book based on song titles from Canada's The Tragically Hip, and is illustrated by several Canadian artists so there's a variety of picture styles.
I'm not as familiar with the band as I could be, but I enjoyed how each artists' work made for a related set of pages that could tell a story about a family or friends, and I did recognize detail of Gord Downie's hat and feather appearing in several of the illustrations. The images themselves include familiar sightings on the Canadian landscape like a snowed in town, a grain elevator, and a hockey rink.
There is probably more to see if you are a fan of the band and familiar with the songs and their meanings, but it's a cute book nonetheless.… (altro)

I loved how the illustrators used their creativity to portray the different song titles that stood for each letter of the alphabet. A personal favorite of mine is H is for At the Hundredth Meridian!
