This is another excellent collection of winter holiday stories from Dreamspinner Press - they range from historical to contemporary to science fiction and even fantasy/paranormal, and while the majority focuses on Christmas, there are a few with other holidays sprinkled in for good measure.

I particularly enjoyed:
- All I Want for Christmas... Is No Christmas by Colton Aalto
- Bite Night by Clare London
- How the Supervillain Stole Christmas by Charles Payseur
- Krampus Hates Christmas by Andi Van
- Mele Kalikimaka by B.G. Thomas
- The Orpheum Miracle by Pat Henshaw
- Popcorn Garlands by Ariel Tachna
- Teddy Bears by Brandon Witt

But I liked all of them and am already looking forward to the 2017 event!

“Besides, a boyfriend wasn’t like a college couch—you couldn’t pick one up off the side of the road.” – Kale Green

While Kale is not a “dedicated” Grinch, he does dislike the holidays to the point that he gets annoyed with all the Christmas music, not to mention the insane traffic. And I can see where he is coming from: his boss makes him work until the last second, traveling to meet clients all over his sales territory, and with the bad luck he’s had on the road and with his car, it makes sense for him to be less than enthusiastic.

But all that changes when he meets a car mechanic named Wes. Well, not immediately, but I could see the writing on the wall, so to speak, when they first ran into each other. Actually Wes runs his truck into the back of Kale’s company car, then there is the flat Wes can’t deal with a couple of weeks later, and since they really get along, they take it from there. Contrary to Kale’s statement earlier in the story, it seems that he can pick up a boyfriend off the side of the road…. sort of.

If you like accidental meetings that lead to more, if you think that two men who live hours apart deserve a chance at happiness, and if you’re looking for a read full of misery followed by lots of Christmas cheer, then you will probably like this entertaining short story.
