Fred Singleton (1926–1988)

Pretty good survey for its time (published in 1965), though the author has a slightly annoying habit of repeating himself (for some odd reason, he dwelt on the expulsion of the Turkish population of Bulgaria, referring to it three time), and at one point, he got sloppy with the admittedly confusing situation of Roumanian royal politics. Pretty good read, though of course it's now vastly out of date.

For some unknown reason I've always had an interest in Finland, but never knew too much about it, so I bought this book. It lives up to it's name and I learned quite a bit, which was my goal, but I just didn't think it was put together that well and could have been written a bit better. I am glad I bought and read it, but I am going to continue my search for another history book on Finland.
