I really enjoyed reading about Joan's life and her good times with all the Carry On cast. Enjoyable reading.

Back Cover Blurb:
For the first time Joan Sims tells of her fascinating life in show-business, with funny and touching annecdotes from her celebrated career. Joan Sims appeared in 24 Carry On films. Sadly Joan died in June, 2001 and will be sadly missed.

I read a lot of biographies of actors and actresses, particularly those of a comical bent and after a while, one feels that one can guess the person's character. This is one that I got completely wrong.
Miss Sims appears so confident in front of the camera and yet, like Hancock, this is the story of a tortured soul.
The other surprising thing to come from this book is that a lady who so regularly appeared upon the screen - both big and small - should end her days in such an impicunious state.
The style of the book is always cheerful, but there is an unquestionable backdrop of sorrow and, although she glosses over the event, we are made aware of Joan's descent into depression.
Her autobiography ends frighteningly near to her own demise but, typically, the book ends on a positive note so, one hopes, her end was on a high note.
