Nice start to the series!

I had a bit of squick with the speed of moving from sex with one woman to another. Overall good though.

An okay quick read. Likeable main characters but the shifter aspect of the book was very inconsistent. At the start of the book the existence of shifters is a tightly guarded secret (despite the fact that there is a whole team of smoke-jumpers who are known to be nearly all shifters of widely different types). At the end of the book a 911 call is made that includes a code word that ensures response by a shifter deputy.½

I thought this was a good start to a great new series. My first book by this author, weel written, good story, interesting characters.

I wasn't keen on the hero's loose morals. He has a commitment phobia and wonders why the heroine doesn't want to be with him.
