James M. Saslow earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University and is professor of art history at Queens College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York. His previous books include Ganymede in the Renaissance: Homosexuality in Art and Society. He served for many years as East Coast arts mostra altro editor of The Advocate, the national gay and lesbian newsmagazine, and was a cofounder of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies at City University of New York.
