ogni personaggio si innamorano del primo che passa, e del secondo e del terzo
tutti sono innamorati di tutti, i dialoghi sono assurdi e i comportamenti improbabili

This book was a little slow at the beginning but the pace quickly picked up and the story became very interesting. I am looking forward to reading Legends and Liars to see how this story concludes.

This was a pretty solid installment of the "Falling Kingdoms" series- it definitely moved the plot forwards, introduced a couple promising characters (I want to know more about Prince Ashur!), and I can see the overall plot being something I *really* get into. I'm for sure reading the next book!

I do think a couple aspects could use some improvement. Firstly- where tf are the adults in this book? Like, I know it's YA and adults generally don't have as much as a role, but come on. I especially had a tricky time reading about the rebel camp because it's seriously composed of ALL TEENS. I find it impossible to believe that no adults in Auranos are actively trying to protest the new king and also apparently never interact with Jonas's rebels. Side note: Jonas bugs me- how did this wishy washy boy with very little skill at thinking ahead become leader of the rebels??? I protest.

Secondly, the writing and dialogue is fairly predictable. Nothing in this book surprised me or went in a direction I couldn't see coming. This series gets compared to "Game of Thrones" quite a lot, but where GoT throws in sucker punches and rips the rug out from under you, "Falling Kingdoms" has (so far) gone down a much more predictable route. Fingers crossed for some more unexpectedness in the rest of the series!

Lastly, there is so much sidestepping and teasing in this book! I understand that it's a 6-book series and things build up over time, but all the chapters with King Gaius or the Watchers just seemed to be there so Rhodes could tease about what the true purpose is of the road. There's a fine line between building up and dragging things on, and Rhodes is straddling that line.

Also- UGH I was starting to have hope for Magnus as a character, but Chapter 23 just made him even a bigger jerk in my eyes. He's so aggressive and harsh towards Cleo and the way he pushes her around (literally) is just awful. I JUST WANT TO SEE MORE OF CLEO AND LUCIA TEAMING UP! YASSSS GIRLS YASSSSS.

So anyways. A good installment but there's plenty of room for improvement! On to book 3 :)

Falling Kingdoms By Morgan Rhodes I really liked this book. Many books claim to be very Games of thrones inspired but this is the first book that I think really captured the same brutally the GRR Martin has in that series.

This books follows three different kingdoms that all used to be part of a larger country. One Country is in total power and the other two are just struggling to get surviving. This books follows all the teens in these places and it so fast paced novel. I was not expecting the death in this book and really grew attached to characters. I did see many similar topics that are in GOT so it was hard to give it five stars. I hope that after this book it really becomes something more individual and less predictable but I really loved how this book just captured me and and I liked all the characters.

This book is great for fans of GOT or Mortal instruments.

If you like your stories with intrigue, secrets, action, and distinctive characters, you'll like this a lot, but please read book one beforehand so you get the full benefit. Great and satisfying conclusion.

I had high hopes for this book, but it ended up just being okay for me. It started out slow, but it did pick up and got better at the end where there was a reveal.
This book has the trope about magic being forbidden. It's about Jossyln Drake and being the daughter of the former Prime Minister while she's at the Queen's Gala she finds herself in the middle of a robbery gone bad and gets infected with dangerous magic. This magic helps her tap into the memories of a evil and infamous warlock and she needs to get the magic removed but the penalty of doing magic is death and seeking help could get her the death penalty. There's no one she can go to for help except a wanted criminal, Jericho who wants the magic in exchange for helping her. She ends up finding a world outside of the rich world she's known with Jericho and she comes to have feelings for Jericho.
Jossyln ends up on an adventure with Jericho and she finds out there's a lot more to the world than she thought and that magic may not be as bad as she was told. There are some shocking twists and a big reveal at the end, which leaves you hanging on a major cliffhanger.
If you like the magic forbidden trope or this kind of story, then go ahead and check it out.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Penguin Young Readers Group for letting me read and review this interesting read. All opinions are my own.

This is a cute little novella about a young witch who needs to pick out a familiar and the shapeshifter that accidentally gets bonded to her. Brenda and Owen are funny and likeable characters. The romance is sweet if very very shallow and quick. The action is straightforwards. It's a shame it's a novella, I would actually enjoy reading this as a full length story.

Interesting book. Eden is a sceptical psychic who has just inherited half a failing detective agency and been possessed by a demon named Darrak. This is the perfect chick lit paranormal read if that's what your into - for me though, I found it kind of boring. Eden was whiny and at times stupid and I've found my threshold for that sort of tolerance has been steadily declining. Add in the fact there's a love triangle (albeit a minor one) with the police detective, Ben and I just couldn't find myself caring. It's not a bad read though, just not what I was after. I doubt I'll read the rest of the series. 3 stars.

It's your standard paranormal/slightly urban fantasy novel. There wasn't anything particularly memorable about this addition to the genre but it was enjoyable and had me laughing. It's not bad - it's just you've read one, you start to feel like you've read them all. The main character is your typical hopeless female with snark. The romance was sweet enough although instalove, so depends on what you're looking for in a story. But it's a great beach type read. 3 stars.

The magic & story line was good, but besides Barnabus none of the characters were interesting at all.

Okay I was a little confused when I read this because it was clearly not the book others had reviewed. Turns out as the author explains at the end, she had rewritten an adult book as a YA book. It worked just fine as a YA. I understand that the adult book had a bunch of sex scenes which were not included in this version.

This is dystopian. The plot and action were interesting. The writing was workmanlike. I enjoyed the hero and heroine but I didn't love them. The bad guy's motive was different and the game aspect was pretty well done.

Now that I have finished all six books, my perspective has changed in terms of how I see the series. It was a book too long and my major issue is the emotional lability of many of the characters, ie their emotions and interactions with others are too quick to change, they make judgments too quickly and at times toss them aside just as fast. I can roll with this in moderation, but it became such that it began to be annoying. Still, I'm very glad I discovered and read the entire series.

The intrigue and the hinted at clash between the two worlds keeps me into this series.

The threatening overtones continue, the revelations are well done and the continuing mystery of the four kindreds is a very good hook.

A dandy series with characters that grow and become more complex with each book.

All meat and no filler in this second book in the series. There's plenty of fleshing out, not only of the backstory, but in terms of the characters. There were times I cringed in sympathy as the good guys were thwarted, often in bloody ways. Very much looking forward to starting the next book as soon as I can get my hands on it.

I like the multiple viewpoints approach here. It will throw some readers off, but it helps the tension level and moves the story nicely. I'm on to the next installment now.
