This book is about a family who is having a matzah ball contest during Passover meal. Its great to have children read books about different cultures to open their minds to different ideas/lifestyles. I thought the illustrations in this book were funny because they have their own distinctive style. Also on each there would be a small picture on top of the page that gave little preview of what this page was about.

In my opinion this is a good book. The book's characters take a trip through the grandmother's memory to explain why her clothes are on inside-out. The grandmother is dynamic and exciting while she teaches her granddaughter about Hanukkah traditions and parts of the holiday that are special to her. The illustrations are pleasant and charming. The main idea represented in this book is to share traditions and memories with family in ways they can connect to them. I thought this book does an excellent job of that.… (altro)

Summary: "Inside-Out Grandma: A Hanukkah Story" starts off with Rosie's grandmother wearing her inside out. When Rosie asks her grandmother why she is wearing her clothes like this, the grandmother answers that it will help her remember to buy oil to fry potato latkes for Hanukkah. This confuses Rosie so the book goes through the different remembrances the grandmother explains to Rosie that helps her remember to buy oil. Every remembrance the grandmother tells seems to have nothing to do with buying oil until the end when Rosie understands why her grandmother wears her clothes inside out.

Review: The big idea of the story is Rosie's grandmother wears her clothes inside out because it helps her remember to buy oil for potato latkes because wearing her clothes inside out reminds her of her family and Hanukkah and how everyone loves potato latkes on Hanukkah. However, she needs oil to make them for everyone. In opinion, I thought the book was a fun and silly book that showcased family traditions and memories. The book discussed how family and friends come together to celebrate Hanukkah and dishes served during Hanukkah. In addition, I liked how the book had me guessing for the answer every time I turned the page to figure out how wearing your clothes inside out helped the grandmother to remember to buy oil.
