I think love stories are always best, when they come out of the unexpected, or maybe it’s the whole opposite attracts thing?

In “Love In Condition Yellow” I found myself swept away in the romance that develops between Sophia, which was an Ivy League School, peace activist and Barrett, who is a straight-laced Oakland Police officer who was also a major in the Army Reserve. It was funny to watch (read) how they argued over everything, from the issues that divide the US, to drug policies and race relations. I was able to relate to the feeling that Sophia had about finding freedom in this new relationship full of differences, yet completely being accepted by the differences between them.

Love in Condition Yellow takes the reader into a journey of how you can fall in love with someone who isn’t like yourself… and find peace in the disagreements.

All in all a good read...interesting to me as I do not have any family members serving in the military, offered a glimpse into what being part of a military family could be like.

Sophia Raday is a hippie-dippie Berkeleyite who falls in love with and marries a police officer/soldier. Yes, they are very different, and love pretty much conquers all.

But about 1/2 way into the memoir, I realized I was interested in these characters and found myself rooting for them. The timeliness of the issues addressed helped, as I could imagine a number of families struggling through some of the same war-time issues when two people in a couple have such opposing views. What I also enjoyed that the view of their relationship was real, that two very different people had to work extremely hard to make their relationship work.… (altro)
