There are chapters on hand sewing or machine piecing, and an extensive coverage of applique. At the end is an appendix covering the tools that are helpful to the quilter. Even though the projects look to be at an advanced level, the instructions are very clear and step by step, so a beginning quilter could choose one of the simpler designs and be able to complete it.
