I received a copy of The Atlantis Papyrus as part of the Library Thing Member Giveaway. I just recently finished it. As a former Classics major and lifelong fan of ancient history, this was an enjoyable read. I loved every word! It was very carefully researched and well-written. I looked forward to reading a chapter or two every night to see what was in store for the protagonists, Deon and Eurydice. I am glad that Mr. Penner is working on a sequel as I was sad to reach the end of the book!

The book is a hybrid of romantic melodrama and Homerian adventure, moving along a path of personal relationships with the main character, Deon. They encompass the full range, from spouse, to enemy, to colleague and more. Each supporting character tests the emotional, moral, or intellectual meddle of Deon. Each is described in a lively way. Penner keeps the plot moving at an adventerous pace all the while maintaining an atmosphere of intimacy between and within characters.… (altro)
