This does talk about some good techniques, but I wouldn't consider it suitable for a beginner. The in-progress photos certainly help, but for detailed instruction there need to be a few more per picture, or perhaps smaller simpler works. The example works are also extremely good, to the point it could be discouraging to a relative beginner when they try to replicate the techniques.
