In this book, the main character has a friend who describes what a heroic father he has. The main character responds by lying about his fathers’ occupations throughout the week. At the end, the main character confesses that his father actually works in an office. He also explains to his friend that he cannot see him the next day because he spends Saturdays with his father. As the main character explains what the two do throughout the day, the reader cannot help but be reminded that we should love our family members for who they are instead of what they are not. It also reminded me to love my dad and be proud of what he does instead of being ashamed for what he does not do. I also enjoyed reading the text because it’s written in the way a little boy would think, which made it a comfortable and easy read. For instance, the main character said, “I just had to tell Alex how great my dad is. So I did” after the friend had explained his father’s heroic occupation. Another reason I enjoyed reading this book is that it reminds us to not be jealous of others because what we have is also precious in its own way. It’s evident that the main character feels this way because at the end of the story, he says, “My dad is the most magnificent dad in the whole wide world. And that’s the truth.”… (altro)

This is a cute story about a son who embellishes what his dad does for a living. He goes on telling about the magnificent jobs he does each day. Eventually, the child admits that his stories weren't true. However, he acknowledges why he thinks his dad is magnificent. This is a great book for parents to read to their child/children or in school.
