Paphnutius the Ascetic

I have been fascinated with the desert fathers since I read Helen Waddell's translations of the saying of the desert fathers in my youth. On the whole, the stories by Paphnutius tend to be more conventionally hagiographic than the ones Waddell retold, at least the ones I have read so far, but it is always nice to have another of the ancient sources available, and this ha a very full introduction on the specific setting of these stories among the hermits of southern Egypt near Philae.
