This labor of love is a quirky but well-produced addition to the microgenre of county courthouse books. Though self-published, it looks quite professional; the photography is outstanding and the author's prose acceptable, and no more fraught with homonym and spelling errors than current books from major houses. The book's format differs from most of these books; only nineteenth-century courthouses are included, and the entries, though brief, include a catalog of the bric-a-bric found in the courtyards. Either Missouri didn't have as many county seat squabbles as other states or her doesn't treat of all of them. He's an attorney, so there's a bit of emphasis on courtrooms.… (altro)
