Another "Odd Bodkins" collection, this one being the actual strips from The San Francisco Chronicle and other newspapers, and more tightly plotted than the looser graphic novel, "Hear the Sound of My Feet Walking Drown the Sound of My Voice Talking". It's amazing to me that such a metaphysical and steeped-in-politics strip as this from the 1960's, holds up so well for me today.

"Odd Bodkins" was one of the better "underground" comics of the late 1960's and early 1970's, and one of my favorites. It concerns the travels and ruminations and philosophical misadventures of Fred, a bird, and Hugh, his incompetently meditative human friend. Good free-wheeling artwork, a genuine sense of humor combined with a '60's sensibility, and occasional bursts of genuine wisdom go together to make this strip hold up better than most other undergrounds of the period.
