Olympiodorus.,

This is a fragmentary text and not all of it is equally as interesting as it stands. The parts where Olympiodorus defends the twin doctrines of the pre-existence of the soul and it's immortality are by far the most interesting. Probably the most noteworthy is the discussion revolving around memory and recollection and how it relates to the above defense.
Because of the above, I would give the book around 3-and-a-half stars. Very little of the commentary survives, but some of what does survive is tantalizing. I look forward to reading volume two, which is Damascius' commentary on Plato's Phaedo. Quite a bit more of that commentary survives.
