Kenneth Edward Nordine was born in Cherokee, Iowa on April 13, 1920. After attending the University of Chicago, he got a job working the mimeograph machine at a local radio station. He went on to host radio and television shows including Faces in the Window, in which he recited works by Edgar Allan mostra altro Poe, Guy de Maupassant, and Honoré de Balzac. Nordine created a form of storytelling called word jazz, which was stream-of-consciousness poetry accompanied by music. His albums included Word Jazz, Son of Word Jazz, and Colors. His radio show Word Jazz ran on WBBM in Chicago in the 1960s, followed by a run on NPR in the 1970s. He also did voice-overs for television and radio commercials. Colors di Ken Nordine
I liked this poetry book! The fact that it's free verse definitely makes it kind of hard to find and follow the beat of the pages, but I liked it. I think it's a cute way of talking about colors, but I'm not too sure that students at the Kindergarten level that I'd like to teach at would be able to understand all of the vocabulary and such in here!
I LOVED the style this book was written in! I LOVED the illustrations! I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to read this to my class. My son even enjoyed it!
This book helps explain in a poetic and artistic way the origins of colors and what they represent. It uses a mixture of cut and paste type illustrations along with painting and coloring directly on the page. The language it uses is fun and almost written in the way that a child would speak, making it easier for a child to understand the text.
What is the color telling you? Does it have personality? Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah, it continues on.
