Felicity Niven

Harry (Harriet) is a mathematical genius and what today we'd call neurodivergent. Even as a wealthy heiress, it doesn't leave her with many suitors; she just wants to be left alone and not have to participate in the Season. Thomas needs a rich wife but refuses to wed a virgin (honestly, this part wasn't clear to me: I get he was traumatized by his sister's marriage and consorted with whores a lot, but I never got the connection clearly). Anyway, Harry decides he's the perfect husband; he can have her money, and she can work on her solution to Fermat's Theorem in peace.
Harry's an interesting character. The author did a good job portraying her, although the math sometimes got a little hard for me. I liked Thomas, too; his character growth was one of the best parts of the story.
The writing was good though I sometimes felt certain words or phrases were a bit modern for Regency times. This is a different Regency romance and I enjoyed it a lot.… (altro)
